Ireland were awful. Probably the worst performance at home I can remember. Probably the worst Ireland team on paper as well in years. Think of the players in years gone by like McGrath, Staunton, Irwin, Townsend, Both Keanes, Given, Aldridge, Quinn etc they don’t have that anymore. Having to rely on avergate Championship players. In reality they have over achieved knocking out a Wales with Bale and Ramsay and a decent Austria side. It all went wrong last night but overall a good campaign to be proud off. Shame none of the home nations will be there it makes it more interesting

In short the Irish were completely outplayed in both legs by a very good side that will surprise in Russia as Iceland did in the Euros, the Danes like England may be accused of being a bit of a One Man Rovers by having a world class Tottenham Hotspurs player in their side and no one else but in the case of the Danes this is not true, they are a solid unit, as for the Irish we have no chance until we poach a goalscorer from somewhere. And for everyones information there are many like me who are not ABE's (Anyone but England). France are always my No.1 team when the irish do not qualify but England would be No.2 especially if there are a few on board from West Ham.
And fwiw Denmark will be a good bet to progress from whatever group and I shall be backing them until they get knocked out, im not saying they will win the thing that will be one from Germany Spain Belgium or France, but you never know. Anyone remember 80/1 25 years ago in Sweden, Euro 92?
